classic country chest

The Carinthian farmer’s chest is about 200 years old, has a wonderful patina and is characterized by the well-proportioned painted fillings on all three sides. The fillings have a cranked shape whose contours are carved rather than applied. The motifs as well as the muted colors are remarkably beautiful. The bouquets show stylized flowers, in the central field there is the Mary’s monogram decorated by a garland of leaves. On the sides the fillings continue. The prongs of the corner joints adopt an attractive design element on the front. The chest stands on runners. Fittings, lock,key and handles are perfect.
