austrian antique painted baroque cabinet
The painted baroque cabinet has a special shape. It is narrow and high and shows the viewer an abundance of details. The veneer painting is the support level. The tendril painting in the sloping pilaster strips and in the frieze convey lightness, the cornice and plinth show marbling. The filling field above expresses a wonderfully naive representation of the Ascension, the lower field contains a bouquet of flowers. The baroque fittings, the baroque door lock and the field shape define the time when the cabinet was created.
