The Barn – A Vanishing Landmark in North America
In the early 90’s I lived in New York City for 2 years. In the evening on the way home, whether coming from work, university, an invitation or an event, I always visited bookstores and forgot the time. When I think back, I have the feeling that the bookstores were open 24 hours a day, like a shop for basic needs. It’s actually not that wrong: books are basic needs.
As I rummaged through the library, I discovered one of the many books I bought then. It’s the one about “Barns in North America”. The book has detailed descriptions, interesting photos and architectural sketches. I haven’t held the book in my hands for a long time, but I remember exactly when I bought it.
