south tyrol antique chest

The chest from the Sarntal is a typical example of the chest from the 19th century in this region of South Tyrol. The colors red, dark green or blue were used. The white contours are striking. The trefoil, rosette, Joseph, Jesus and Mary monogram served as motifs. The monograms are surrounded by an aureole. The base board is finely sawn.

This chest dates from the first half of the 19th century and has all the characteristics of a Sarntal chest. This is exactly why it is also depicted in specialist books.
