Peasant cabinet with paste painting
Cabinets of this type come from Western Styria. Every time I consider myself lucky when I have the chance to buy such a cabinet. The special features are motifs, painting technique and construction of the cabinet. The motifs were applied to the surface by means of paste painting. On the one hand there are blessing motifs, on the other hand there is the distinctive loop motif that starts at the front and becomes particularly visible at the side. The interior of the cabinet is also remarkable: wooden hooks, as nature has created, and a shelf to fold up and down. The cabinet is dated 1823 in the frieze. The hardware, key and lock are classic from the period of origin. A great peasant cabinet!
