The painted sideboard has an unusual design. The sloping corners and the style of painting are reminiscent of provincial furniture from France. I bought it in southern Germany. The delicate feet and the profiled panel frames with their raised panels are particularly noteworthy. The console, whose paintwork has been redone, is approximately 200 years old. The cuts on the lid indicate that antique furniture sometimes had to serve different purposes during its lifetime, which remain hidden from us. The paintwork conceals these traces as well as possible. The fine molding on the lid allows pictures, photos, and/or a mirror to be leaned against it. The painted sideboard is a feast for the eyes from every angle. Anyone who falls in love with this wonderful piece of furniture will adore the charm of its worn patina.
