The painted farm chest is from around 1800 and comes from Styria. It must have been a wedding chest. Its lovely pair of birds, the charming flowers and the high-quality carving indicate this. The front is densely divided into arches, longitudinal panels and carved elements. Notched and relief carvings can be seen as pilasters between the arches and as a crossbar above the arches, as well as on the edges of the front and on the profiled frame of the lid. The sides have a profiled frame and there are iron handles in the middle. The color canon is strong but muted. The patina is deep and rich. A wonderful example of a high-quality Styrian wedding chest.
