This low chest is perfect for sitting on or as a beautiful piece of furniture at the foot of a bed. It’s practical for setting things down and for storage. The chest dates from around 1800. It has unusual dimensions, a fantastic honey-colored patina, and beautiful design elements such as the tall, slender arches, the twisted braids along the edges, and the bold, profiled moldings—both horizontal and vertical. The fact that the moldings at the base and on the left and right panels are mitered contributes greatly to the exquisite overall impression.
