The special feature of this turned farmhouse table is its inlaid maple top. The sign of blessing IHS is positioned in the center with a heart in a circle. IHS stands for “Jesus, Savior, Maker of Souls” or “Iesus Hominum Salvator” for “Jesus, Savior of Mankind.” Flames and triangles connect to the circle. Inlaid tops are rare! The base is made of honey-colored softwood. The legs are powerfully turned, and the footrest is worn and hollowed out from use in the way we love to see on antique tables. The drawer has a wrought iron handle. The table dates back to the early 19th century.
