The gable chest gets its name from the shape of its lid, which is connected to the body by a wooden hinge. The chest is a corner tenon chest, the entire construction of which is visible: corner tenons into which the boards are inserted, a lid that fits into the side rails. The beechwood farmer’s chest is approximately 200 years old. In addition to its construction, the special feature of this piece of furniture is the decoration on all four sides. It is a simple carving technique that contrasts with the black surfaces. An archaic chest with interesting ornamentation!
