The painted sideboard was created in 1836 and reflects the refinement of classicism in its design and choice of motif. It is the subtle details, such as the shape of the cornice, the brushstrokes, the thickness of the mouldings and the shape of the feet, that create the fine overall picture. A wonderful sideboard that discreetly draws attention to itself, not least because of its interesting choice of colour, which is nobly restrained by its muted appearance.
