archaic farmhouse chest

The archaic farmhouse chest from Styria is around 300 years old. The simple construction has strength. The flat stencil painting in black is the only decorative element. The painting divides the front into five parts. The two main panels are decorated with silhouette-like motifs, while the other panels form the frame and feature geometric motifs. Even the sides are included. The baseboard has a fantastic curve. Lock and key complete the farmhouse chest. Inside there is a compartment with a sliding lid. A chest full of character and subtlety.
