This painted cabinet is not only elegant in form but also enchanting thanks to its colors and motifs. The cabinet’s structure resembles that of a large wardrobe: a molded cornice, horizontal moldings, an octagonal panel on the door, and, last but not least, the particularly well-executed base. How skilled the craftsman who made this piece must have been to achieve such wonderful proportions. The many shades of green make the cabinet interesting, accented by the striking orange-red. Beneath the cornice, the year of manufacture, “1801,” is inscribed. The lock and key match the quality of this outstanding piece of furniture. A true rarity!
