The ZEIT Art Magazine
WELTKUNST
The renowned art magazine “Weltkunst” has chosen artists Alicja Kwade and Gregor Hildebrandt for its current cover story. Kwade is one of the most influential international sculptors of our time, and Hildebrandt is one of the most outstanding conceptual artists; together, they form one of this issue’s dream teams. Both are sitting on a beautiful softwood bench in their Berlin apartment.

I was truly delighted when I received my copy of WELTKUNST and saw the softwood bench on the cover. Antique farmhouse furniture in an old-town apartment surrounded by contemporary art objects. In the interview, we learn that the artist’s father is a restorer and used to own an antique shop. The apartment is furnished with one-of-a-kind pieces, each with its own personal story.
On top of that, my son Gabriel has previously interviewed Alicja Kwade for DIE ZEIT and spent a very special evening in Los Angeles with Gregor Hildebrandt.

For as long as I can remember, we’ve subscribed to WELTKUNST, which brings the vast world of art and the art market right into our home every month—it’s such an enrichment!
The current issue is a collaboration between WELTKUNST and the magazine Architectural Digest Deutschland, better known as AD. Two magazines from two publishers, ZEIT and Condé Nast, dedicated to the theme of “friendship” and special duos from the worlds of art, design, and architecture. AD has also decided to feature the softwood bench on its cover 🙌 It makes me so incredibly happy when the quality of antique farmhouse furniture is recognized and showcased.
